Winter on the Oregon Coast

Astoria, located just a short drive from Drifthaven, is home to some of winter’s most intriguing events. On February 15, the Festival of Dark Arts takes center stage at Fort George Brewery. This one-day event is a celebration of all things “dark,” featuring mesmerizing artistry, live performances, and over 80 rare stouts to tempt your palate. From ice sculpting to iron forging, the brewery buzzes with creativity and excitement. Tickets are required for this one-of-a-kind event.

The FisherPoets Gathering, held February 21–23, celebrates 38 years of storytelling and maritime culture. This cherished tradition honors the art and stories of commercial fishing communities, drawing poets, songwriters, and storytellers from both coasts. Enjoy performances, workshops, and authentic insights into the lives of deckhands, skippers, and cannery workers, all shared in the town’s cozy pubs, restaurants, and galleries.

Though the days may be shorter, winter offers endless opportunities to explore, connect and immerse yourself in the charm of this coastal community.
